The night was quiet, the campus shrouded in darkness as most students slept. But on the basketball court, a lone figure was moving, the sound of a ball echoing off the concrete. It was Jason, a tall, lanky sophomore known for his quick moves and sharp shooting on the college basketball team. But tonight, he wasn’t practicing. He was just… loitering.
Jason dribbled the ball lazily, his mind far from the game he loved. He had been struggling lately, both on the court and in class. His grades were slipping, and his performance in games was lackluster. The pressure was getting to him, and the court was the only place where he could find some peace, even if it was temporary.
He didn’t notice the figure approaching until a beam of light cut through the darkness, blinding him. He froze, the ball bouncing away as he raised a hand to shield his eyes.
“Hey! What are you doing out here?” a gruff voice called out. It was the campus security guard, a burly man with a stern expression. He lowered the flashlight slightly, revealing Jason’s face. “You know the rules, kid. No one’s allowed out here after hours.”
Jason swallowed hard, the sudden realization of how much trouble he might be in making his stomach churn. “I was just… I just needed some time alone,” he muttered, trying to explain.
The guard wasn’t having it. He stepped closer, shaking his head. “I don’t care what you needed. Rules are rules. You’re coming with me.”
Before Jason could protest, the guard grabbed him by the arm and started leading him off the court. Jason didn’t resist; he was too tired, too defeated. He felt like a prisoner being marched to his cell.
They walked in silence through the empty campus, the only sound the occasional rustle of leaves in the night breeze. The guard’s grip was firm, unyielding, as if he knew Jason might try to slip away if given the chance.
When they reached the dormitory, the guard didn’t let go. Instead, he pushed Jason inside and up the stairs, right to his room. “You want to break the rules, fine. But you’re going to stay put until you learn to follow them.”
He shoved Jason into the room, slamming the door behind them. Jason stumbled, barely catching himself before he hit the floor. He turned to face the guard, confusion and a hint of fear in his eyes.
“What are you doing?” Jason asked, his voice shaky.
The guard didn’t answer. He pulled a length of rope from his belt, and before Jason could react, the guard was tying his wrists together. The knots were tight, too tight, cutting into his skin.
“Wait, you can’t do this,” Jason protested, struggling against the bonds. But the guard was relentless, tying his wrists to the bedframe, leaving him with no way to escape.
“You need to learn a lesson, kid,” the guard said coldly. “You think you can do whatever you want because you’re on the basketball team? Not on my watch.”
With that, the guard turned and left the room, locking the door behind him. Jason was alone, tied up in his own dorm room, the silence of the night pressing down on him.
He struggled against the ropes, but it was no use. He was trapped, left to contemplate his actions and the consequences they had brought. The reality of his situation settled in, the darkness of the room swallowing him whole.
Hours passed, but it felt like an eternity. Jason’s thoughts raced, a whirlwind of regret, fear, and a desperate desire to escape. But all he could do was wait, tied up and alone, hoping that someone would find him before the night was over.
